It's been far too long since I've posted a picture to this blog. It's taken a trip to Angola to serve as motivation.

Today is my father-in-law's birthday, and I wanted to celebrate the occasion with a photo that I took with him during my last trip to the US. Whenever we get together (which is much less than I would like due to a certain ocean between us) we always try to get in a photo excursion. Half the fun is the sheer randomness of the occasion as we drive to and fro, usually chasing after the perfect sunlight.

On this particular day, he took me to this old abandoned house on a hill where we spent the better part of an hour crawling in and out of the building. This is just one of many shots that we both took that day: wide shots, shot of doorknobs, rusty cans, an old motorcycle, etc.

As I sit and write this, I can't help but realize the blessing that I was given in sharing that afternoon with him, so on this day--his birthday--I wanted to share a memory of the gift he gave me...

This shot was taken from the second highest point in Germany, mainly because I didn't have the guts to take the shot from the highest spot. A winding, rocky trail leads to the ladder in the picture. A single cable acts as the sole support. Regardless, the path was completely packed as people made their way single-file back and forth across the summit.

I've been trying to go back and dig out some of my old photos from previous trips when I stumbled across this particular one that we took in Sevilla, Spain last year.

Looking back over my photos, I seem to be drawn to photographing street artists and musicians.

Directly opposite of the Blue Mosque sits Hagia Sophia, previously a mosque but now a museum. An excellent example of Byzantine architecture, the interior of the museum is one of the most beautiful that we have seen.
